“Heroism doesn’t always happen in a burst of glory. Sometimes small triumphs and large hearts change the course of history.”

History

Be A Blessing started as an initiative in 2015 to create an avenue for service members to help the local area DC homeless after meeting and talking to some of those who frequented the areas surround Marine Barracks Washington. where Natasha Hart would often wait for her husband to get off work.

When Natasha reached out to others to help her provide needed resources, she was surprised by the flood of support from fellow military families and her own family and friends. Together they expanded the outreach to service member families who were experiencing food insecurity. Be A Blessing was a way to spread support and joy in large and small ways through a combination of systematic programming and impromptu random acts of kindness,. They even put on a ballgown give away and Super Bowl food boxes one year.

“Since moving out of the country, Be A Blessing has been on the back burner with a dream of revitalizing the initiative in a meaningful way. Partnering with Blessings From the Heart is the perfect way to continue bringing joy to military families everywhere. From our hearts to yours, we are better when we support one another.” — Natasha Hart

Natasha teamed up with Holly, who loves giving gifts from the heart and has been sending small blessings to others in the military community for some time. The two have been friends for over a decade and have always wanted to work together. This is their opportunity to do just that!

Blessings from the Heart has taken Natasha’s work, Blessings, and Holly’s passion for the heart and gift giving and combined them all into one program.

Be a Blessing was created to support communities in need. As we go forward, Blessings from the Heart will do the same, but with a focus on the military community.
