AED Accessibility

Did you know that in the state of Wisconsin, AEDs are not a requirement in every building? Did you know that of the approx. 350,000 cardiac arrests that happen annually outside of the hospital, the survival rate is less than 12%? CPR and AEDs can double or triple the survival rate.

Kelsey Danner is one of our MHM Ambassador volunteers and our veteran grant program is named after her. Recently she discovered her building did not have AED in her work center. Yes, she works on a military installation.

This is how advocates make things happen that help save lives!

“Recently, the building I worked in did not have an AED. I asked the questions, followed up with my building manager and educated those I work with on the importance of having an AED in every building. Today, I saw this… an AED has been installed in my building! Not only is this important for someone like myself who is at a higher risk of cardiac arrest (especially after having one less than a year ago) but approx. 1,000 people a day suffer from cardiac arrest, it doesn’t matter your age or how fit you are, which makes our building safer for those I work around, too! Today is a good day! “

Great job Kelsey! We are very proud of you!!
